In this series, the artist paints stunning portraits set on a bed of silver or gold leaf, with each part of the foil on the backdrop meticulously placed. This series tackles the idealized standard of feminine beauty, with the reflective leaf as a backdrop. The artist uses the forms displayed from covers of magazines as beauty benchmarks, dissected away from their backdrop and placed on metallic leaf, resembling a mirror – the quintessential symbol of vanity.
