Buddha may have been the icon of serenity but Prince Siddhartha was a crown prince who left his life of luxury to sit on the throne of Lotus. As an Enlightened soul, surrounded by lotuses, Buddha is content with the meager belonging he owns. His clothes are made from simple cloth, his hair tied into a tight Jatta, with his hands on his knee and his face gently resting on his hand. It is Kalyanpurkar’s mastery of the brush and expression that even in the geometric pattern, the face of Buddha, though absent, is clear as day in its expression.
