about the artist
Amara De tori is one of the brightest minds in India’s Contemporary art scene, shrouded in mystery Amara has always believed that art of anonymity is the greatest art of them all. “there was such a great joy before the internet and social media, if we needed to get to know someone, you’d have to meet them, spend time with them and judgement was a long process. Unlike now where everyone’s profile is a reflection of their perfect life as the reality becomes an illusion and everyone is quick to judge”. she is nostalgic of a world where people could discover themselves before they start opinionating on every subject with their limited knowledge Inspite of having access to infinite knowledge. A mystery woman herself, her works actually speaks louder than any of her comment.
“As a child, I once read an article about banksy, and his art, his anonymity not only empowered his ideology but also gave him a sense of security. Much like the masked heroes, he too had an informed opinion which he wanted to voice.” Says Amara.
Anonymity and mystery aside, Amara finds the life of the rich and fabulous always quite a commentary and as such her works seems to constantly revolve around the culture. A Diva herself, Amara loves illustrate the life of the more fortunate in her exaggerated renditions.
